Featured Story: You and I and I and You

Hello!

I hope you are doing well. Welcome to my featured story post, where I discuss and share a story that I’ve published!

Today, we are talking about a flash piece near to my heart:

“You and I and I and You” (Flash)
March 2025
Spring 2025 Issue (Heartlines Spec)

  • “—we’ll meet for the first time in a tavern saloon diner coffee shop. I know it’s you because I’ve been looking for you all of my lives and it’s always you…”

This story has been stuck in my head for a while, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. If you know anything about me, you know I love experimenting with form, and this is one of my favorite form stories. I gave Heartlines Spec quite the challenge of getting the strikethroughs right on their page!

This work was rejected 5 times before it was accepted. It took me a few days to write (typical of flash) and a few months to sell (a very quick turnaround for me). Myna Chang even featured it on her flash roundup post!

With this story, I wanted to explore the nuances of reincarnated lovers and that strange feeling of never really knowing if you had agency. I hope you enjoy.

Thank you for stopping by my corner,

Camden

PS: Also, as you might have noticed, I’ve revamped my website a bit. I’ve added a nice collage to the home page, as well as a section for featured works and free works. Be sure to check them out!
