Noticed

Walking past a camera, I wonder.

The mom smiles and pulls her two

young boys near her. They whine, but

comply. With a click, the fake forced

smiles are captured for eternity as is

my shocked face in the background.

I wonder if, many years from now, one

of the boys turned man will pull out this

photo and reminisce on good times. If he

will point out the stranger in the background

that has given him and his family a few laughs

or if he won’t even notice me.

After all, I only matter if those watching make it so.
